体長:7.0~23.0mm
分布:本州、四国、九州、対馬
特徴:ツチハンミョウの仲間は有毒昆虫として知られ、触れるとカンタリジンという成分を含んだ黄色い液を分泌する。この液に触れると水膨れが生じる。
また、幼虫がハナバチ類の巣に寄生するという、特異な生態を持つ昆虫としても知られる。
